On Tuesday, April 19 Republic City Council voted in favor of placing two Parks & Recreation sales tax renewals on the ballot in August 2022.

QUESTION 1: RENEWAL OF ONE-QUARTER CENT LOCAL PARKS SLES TAX 

  • TO ASSIST IN FUNDING GENERAL PARK OPERATIONS 
    • General Park Operations (Utilities, Insurance, Supplies, Etc.)
    • Personnel - Recreation, Maintenance, Aquatics (Full-Time, Part-Time, 150-170 Seasonal)
    • Park Maintenance, Beautification, Renovation Projects
    • Facility Maintenance, Upkeep, Renovation Projects
    • Community Special Events & Programming 
  • Current Tax Set to Expire in March 2024
  • Renewal of Existing Tax - Would Keep Current 1/4 Cent Local Parks Sales Tax in Place for Additional 25 Years 

QUESTION 2: RENEWAL OF ONE-QUARTER CENT PARKS CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS SALES TAX

  • FOR PARKS & RECREATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS 
    • Expansion of the Republic Aquatic Center
    • Development of a Large Community Park Featuring Regional Sports Complex
    • Development of a Farmers Market/Community Event Space at J.R. Martin Park  
    • Other Projects TBD (If Funding Allows)
  • Current Tax Set to Expire in September 2024
