Dance

Republic Parks & Recreation Dance is an instructional program designed to help encourage youth to participate in recreational activities, providing educational and fun opportunities.

Registration:  November 21st – December 16th, 2022                                                     

Program Begins:  January 9th, 2023      

All registrations are taken online! Visit www.recdesk.republicparks.com to login or create your account. Select “Youth Sports” and “Dance” using the category filter. Then select the correct registration type, “Individual Registration” or “Volunteer Instructor” and follow the prompts to register. Individuals will NOT be allowed to participate until their parent or guardian has completed their online registration. If you are interested in being a volunteer instructor, please submit your own registration through the “Dance Program – (Volunteer Instructors)" registration portal. Registration for individuals and for instructors will be open through December 16th

Program Fees:

Fees are collected at the time of registration. Program fees will be $45 per participant. A T-shirt, hairbow, and a drawstring bag will be provided to all participants. Additional T-Shirts can be purchased at the time of registration or by special request. Background Check:

All volunteer instructors are required to pass a background check (no cost to the volunteer) before they will be allowed to work as an instructor. Information regarding background checks is available at republicmo.com. Background checks are good for two years at which point a new submission will be required.  

Instructors Meeting:

The Dance Program instructors meeting will be held Monday, December 19th, at 5:30pm, at the Republic Community Center. A streaming option will also be available. A link to view the meeting virtually will be emailed to instructors prior to the December 19th meeting.

Practice Sessions:

There will be five consecutive weeks of practice sessions. Practice dates are as follows: 

  • January 9th, 2023
  • January 16th, 2023
  • January 23rd, 2023
  • January 30th, 2023
  • February 6th, 2023

Practice sessions will be held at the Republic Community Center, located at 711 E. Miller Rd, Republic, MO. All practice sessions will be Monday evenings, sometime between 5:30pm and 8:00pm. Specific times are to be determined, depending on registration numbers. Practice sessions will range from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on the age group. 

Live Performance:

The live performance is scheduled to take place Saturday morning, February 11th. Spectators will be permitted at the live performance, which will be held in conjunction with Youth Basketball games (half-time or between games). Spectators ages 13+ will be required to pay gate fees upon entry of the live performance ($2 for ages 13-59; $1 for ages 60+) 

Weather Policy:

In the case of inclement weather, the practice session for the week will be moved to Tuesday or Thursday of the same week. In the case of inclement weather on February 12th, the live performance will be moved to the evening of February 14th or 16th.

Uniforms and Equipment:

  1. T-shirt and hairbow will be provided to all participants. The T-shirt and hairbow are intended to be worn at the live performance.
  2. Dance appropriate shoes should be worn in practice sessions and in the live performance. The shoes should be appropriate for a basketball court surface.
  3. Participants should not wear jewelry in practice sessions or the live performance.

 Expected Behaviors and Values:

  1. Participants and instructors are required to maintain high moral standard.
  2. Participants and instructors should demonstrate positivity and encouragement.
  3. Participants and instructors should keep all behavior appropriate for family-viewing.
