Mini-Camp Series

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce the following Sports MiniCamps as a part of the phased approach to reopen Republic. Following CDC recommendations, all camps will offer non-contact activities, marked zones to designate each individual’s area for proper social distancing, no shared equipment, and sanitizing of all provided equipment before and after use. To ensure non-contact activities all camps will be focused on individual skill development. Participants will be asked to bring their own equipment or will be given designated equipment sanitized at the start and end of camp. Marked lanes on the court or field will be utilized throughout each camp to follow social distancing guidelines. Camp sizes are limited, and parents or guardians will be asked to drop off their child and then return to their car to watch or wait for participants. Hand sanitizer will be available and all participants should sanitize their hands upon arrival at camp. If you are sick, exhibiting symptoms or have been around anyone that is sick or exhibiting symptoms, do not attend camp. 

Archery

Archery Camp will begin with an instructional introduction to archery including range safety and the steps of shooting. Participants will then have the opportunity to shoot at 3D Dinosaur targets. All equipment is provided and will be sanitized before and after each session. Participants will not share equipment. All participants are asked to bring a water bottle and wear closed toe shoes. Camp will be held outdoors at Brookline Park located at 2692 E Sawyer Rd. In the event of inclement weather, all campers will be notified and camp will be moved to the Republic Parks & Recreation Activities Building located at 711 E Miller Rd. 

Session 1: Thursday, May 21 from 9:30-11:00 am for ages 8-14 (limit 6) 

Session 2: Thursday, May 21 from 5:30-7:00 pm for ages 8-14 (limit 6)

Basketball

Basketball Camp will focus on individual dribbling and shooting skills. Courts will be marked with individual dribbling lanes and designated shooting spots. Participants should bring their own ball. If a participant does not have their own ball, they will receive a ball to use that is sanitized before and after the session. Participants will not share equipment. No contact play or scrimmaging will be allowed. All participants are asked to bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing including closed toe shoes. Camp will be held at the Republic Parks & Recreation Community Center located at 711 E Miller Rd.

Session 1: Monday, May 18 from 5:30-7:30 pm for grades 2nd -3rd (limit 10) 

Session 2: Tuesday, May 19 from 5:30-7:30 pm for grades 4th -6th (limit 10)  

Pickleball

Pickleball Camp will offer an introduction to the sport of pickleball. Participants will learn the rules and have an opportunity to play. Participants are asked to bring their own paddle. Those who do not have their own, will receive one to use that is sanitized before and after the session. All participants are asked to bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing including closed toe shoes. Camp will be held at the Republic Parks & Recreation Community Center located at 711 E Miller Rd.

Friday, May 15 from 9:00-11:00 am for ages 8-12 (limit 12)

Soccer

Soccer Camp will focus on individual dribbling and shooting skills. Dribbling lanes and designated shooting marks will be utilizes to ensure social distancing and eliminate contact. Participants are asked to bring their own ball or will receive a ball that will be sanitized before and after the session. Participants are asked to only kick or dribble the ball with their feet and refrain from touching with their hands. No contact play or scrimmaging will be allowed. All participants are asked to bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing including closed toe shoes or cleats. Camp will be held at J.R. Martin Park. 

Thursday, May 14 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm for ages 7-12 (limit 12) 

Speed & Agility Sports Training

Speed & Agility Sports Training will include two days of instruction through a variety of drills that promote the speed, agility, and balance that will help your athlete excel. All activities will be completed in individual lanes. There will be no contact between participants or with equipment. Participants are asked to bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing including closed toe shoes. Camp will be held at the Republic Parks & Recreation Community Center located at 711 E Miller Rd. 

Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27 from 3:00-4:00 pm for ages 8-12 (limit 10)

TENNIS 

Tennis Camp will cover basic and intermediate skills including forehand, back hand, volley, and serve. Participants must bring their own racquet. Participants are also asked to bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing including closed toe shoes. Camp will be held at the Tennis Courts at J.R. Martin Park located at 300 E Hines. 

Session 1: Tuesday, May 12 from 5:30-6:30 pm for ages 5-9 (limit 8) 

Session 2: Tuesday, May 12 from 6:45-7:45 pm for ages 10-14 (limit 8)

VOLLEYBALL 

Volleyball Camp will teach the basic skills of volleyball with an emphasis on correct technique. All activities will be done individually or with a designated partner. All participants will register with a partner. They will be paired with this same partner throughout the camp. There will be no group play or contact allowed. Each participant should bring their own volleyball. If a participant does not have their own ball, they will receive a ball to use that is sanitized before and after the session. All participants are asked to bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing including closed toe shoes. Camp will be held at the Republic Parks & Recreation Community Center located at 711 E Miller Rd. 

Thursday, May 28 from 3:00-5:00 pm for grades 4th -6th (limit 10)
