Republic Parks & Recreation Facility, Program & Event Cancellation Information Related to COVID-19

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department, along with the City of Republic, continues to monitor and assess the impact of COVID-19 in partnership with local, state, and federal public health officials. As a result of the guidance below, several Parks & Recreation facilities are closed to the public and many programs/events have been postponed or cancelled.  As of March 23, all playgrounds have been closed until further notice.  A complete listing of all closures, cancellations, and postponements can be found here

  • March 15, 2020: The Center of Disease Control (CDC) recommended that organizers of events that will attract 50 or more people cancel or postpone said events through May 10, 2020.
  • March 16, 2020: President Trump and the Coronavirus Task Force discouraged groups of 10 or more people from gathering.
  • March 24, 2020: Greene County Commission issues Stay at Home Order starting March 26, 2020 running through April 24, 2020.
  • March 29, 2020: President Trump and the Coronavirus Task Force extend social distancing guidelines through April 30.  

The Republic Community Center will remain closed to the public through Thursday April 30. A Parks & Recreation staff member will be available Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. for any inquiries via phone.
